Centerville’s Savannah Place Homeowner Testimonial: Meet Jim, Lourdes and Santiago!

catapultCenterville, Homeowner Tesimonial, Homeownership, Maintenance Free, Savannah Place

At Simms Development, we don’t like the idea that stress is considered “the norm” when it comes to buying a new home. In fact, we believe that this experience should be the opposite of stressful — so we’ve redefined the entire process and turned it into something exciting, rewarding, and fun. (Yes, we said fun!)

You’ll often find Jim, Lourdes and Santiago walking on the many paths within Yankee Trace.

From the moment we meet to the moment we hand over your keys, we want you to feel confident every step of the way. After all, settling into a brand new Simms Development home means a world of happiness and new memories just ahead, so why should the road to move-in day be any less enjoyable?

We sat down with two of our happy homeowners who loved working with our team! They wanted to share their story and give a look into what it’s like to build with us. Below, in their own words, Jim and Lourdes discuss how smooth the buying, selection, and closing process went. They share how well Savannah Place fits their active lifestyle, giving them time to travel and walking their dog Santiago.

How did you discover Simms Development to begin with?
Jim has known about Simms since the 80s, first discovering you at a Homearama. Lourdes first discovered Simms at Monument Walk when she was considering relocating from Virginia.

What, exactly, were you looking for in terms of a home and a builder? Quality construction and value of course are a must but equally important are style, design, and integrity of the builder. Jim has been familiar with all the top southern Dayton builders such as Rhodes, Diorio, Simms, and many others which have come and gone over the years. The fact that Simms has endured is a sign of their quality and integrity.

Jim and Lourdes were looking for a home with expansive ceilings to be able to enjoy daylight into the early evenings.

Why did you choose Simms over other builders? Had you looked at other builders?  Jim knew Simms is a quality builder with proven integrity but the difference in our case was the design of the Savannah. Lourdes loved the feel of the Monument Walk model. Lourdes was looking for high ceilings and lots of light which the Savannah offers. Sustainability is also very important to Lourdes as that is her area of expertise. Simms is increasingly incorporating sustainability practices, which also save money in utilities.

Why did you choose Savannah Place in Centerville? We looked at a couple of other new builds, but nothing compared to Savannah Place. The space, light, and fixtures are gorgeous. Maintenance free and the patio home community were important factors in our case. We travel frequently for weeks and sometimes months at a time. Maintenance free exterior and the close, but not too close, proximity of neighbors gives us a sense of security that our home will be safe when we are not  there. Being part of Yankee Trace and access to all its accoutrements such as the pool and walking paths added to the attractiveness of Savannah Place as we like to stay active. There are also lots of grassy areas for Santiago, our Coton de Tulear.

What exceeded your expectations? In what way was your salesperson most helpful? Bronwyn made the purchase process efficient and fun. She is very responsive and her experience was very helpful with recommendations during the selection of the various options and finishes. We are pleasantly surprised and pleased with resolution of the punchlist items as well. Everyone involved, the Simms people and your subcontractors have been nice to work with. We think this goes back to Simms integrity. Good people (Simms) attract good people (subs, suppliers)

Jim, Lourdes and Santiago spend afternoons outside enjoying the fall weather on their brick patio.

What has been your favorite part of living in your new home and why?  The Savannah is very light and bright yet surprisingly private. The narrow but tall windows let in a lot of light but you don’t feel like everyone can easily look in your windows. So much so we opted not to get blinds except the bedrooms. We also really enjoy the optional Sonos sound system which lets you fill the house with music.

What part of the process went the smoothest? The selection of fixtures and finishes was super easy. Bronwyn worked us through the process and it went so smoothly. And the closing. Lourdes sold her house and her furniture from Virginia was being delivered on closing day. Simms worked with us to do a walk through and then close at the model. The furniture arrived just after closing and by that evening everything was mostly in place.

All of us at Simms Development want to thank Jim, Lourdes and Santiago for such a great experience! We enjoyed working with them, and we’re so happy to hear how much they all love their new home.
