A quick look at brownstone history

Dating back to the late 18th century and into the 20th century, these beautiful brick townhomes gained popularity throughout New York City’s neighborhoods—from Brooklyn to Manhattan’s posh Upper West Side. The architecture spread to other urban areas, like Boston’s Back Bay, and parts of the Greystone Belt in Chicago. Residents sat on the stoops of their townhomes or poked their heads out of the upper windows to keep an eye on the activity in the streets below.

These city homes were built from weathered sandstone, which was less expensive than marble and limestone but considered more stylish and desirable than brick. Many of the homes were actually made of brick and finished with a rich-colored brownstone veneer.

Over the years, the brownstone concept has provided urban dwellers with a distinctive lifestyle. For luxury living in the heart of the city, the brick townhomes of Parkside Row will become a premier address in Springboro, Ohio. Plan a visit to see our model and take advantage of Charles Simms Development’s limited time offer for up to $3,330 in free upgrades.
